Rare Vintage 1980s Life Size Illuminating Human Anatomy Model T.A.M

A wonderful and quite rare late 1980s life size human anatomy model.

Made in Australia and named the mobile T.A.M, which stands for Translucent Anatomical Mannequin.

The mobile T.A.M followed the original model which was made in the late 1960s. Only a small number were made and distinctive and cool look meant it’s image was used on famous music album covers including by the band Nirvana.

T.A.M is fully wired up internally which if connected to power allows sections of her anatomy to be illuminated from within (see our fully working example in the last listing images - not currently for sale).

The model was created as part of an educational program targeted at teaching the effects of alcohol and smoking on the human body.

They were driven around the north of England in mobile classrooms, originally a switch would be operated causing areas of the torso to illuminate to help with the teaching process.

The torso turns 180 degrees on the base which allows the full body to be observed.

(Please note the base is not original to the model, but was just part of the teaching booth it was housed in).

This example was fully operational until it was removed from the trailer classroom, all the internal components are still fully intact and the wiring is in place. The wiring would need to be attached to a switch box and then a power adapter fitting. A competent electrician should be able to sort this.

Currently sold as a display piece with the opportunity for someone to make fully operational again.

Even if left as is this is a fantastic collectible and the level of detailing is incredible.
