Code: 10147
Dimensions:
A lovely example of 19th century ecclesiastical statuartory.
This exceptional antique depiction of the crucifixtion of Christ is modelled in polychrome painted plaster and timber.
Measuring over 6 feet 8" tall this beautifully detailed religious statue would originally have hung in a chapel or church, given its styling it's most likley continental in origin.
The figure of Jesus Christ has been wonderfully crafted and hand painted in fine detail.
The cross itself is made of solid pine with a fine layer of plaster and paint to create the illusion of roughly sawn timber, with knot and grain detailing.
Examples of this age, size and quality are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and are highly sought after.
To the top of the the cross is the original wrought iron hanging loop.
