Impressive country house antique 19th century pine high back settle bench
Code: 10233
Dimensions:
An impressive 19th century pine settle bench with high panelled backrest.
Unlike any we have come across before, this is a striking piece.
The triple panelled backrest running the full height providing protection from draughts.
With slender dropped armrests which have become nicely worn over its years of use.
The particularly deep seat has lovely patina, and is well proportioned and incredibly comfortable.
Raised on unusual open sled supports, which help to create a lightness to its overall aesthetic.
This would make a fantastic grand statement for a rustic kitchen or hallway.
Dimensions:-
Height - 162.2cm
Width - 144cm
Depth - 71cm
Seat depth - 50cm
Backrest height - 116.5cm
Seat height - 45.2cm
The piece has been constructed well with the use of through tenon joints. These became very popular in the arts and crafts period.
With age related wear and tear as you would expect and want with a high use piece like this.
Structurally sound and ready to use.
Wonderful patina to the seat.
One of the sled supports has lost some length over its life. A nice feature possibly indicating wear from items being stored behind and it this taking its toll on this piece of timber.
