A charming antique cased taxidermy study of a fox, by Edward Owen.

More unusual that most, the fox has been set to show it emerging from it's den within a naturalist mount.

Dating to the later part of the 19th century, the fox has been mounted well, and has a gentle expression. This certainly makes for a talking point, and is a refreshing change to the normal fox mask and full body mounts more commonly seen.

The case is made from pine, found in the original black paint and with the original glass.

To the reverse of the case is the original taxidermist's paper label, which reads:-

Edward Owen, Animal & Bird Preserver, Welsh Row, Nantwich.

There are heavy duty hanging loops present, which would suggest the case has been hung at some point. As these are period to the case and the piece is antique the buyer would need to check these are adequate and whether it is safe to suspend or not.

Found in antique original condition.

A small area of loss to the pelt on the head.

Mount well fixed inside the case.

Some age related wear and tear to the case as illustated.
