A late 18th century Welsh elm and pine settle bench.

With panelled backrest and very uncommon and desirable storage section to the base.

The beautiful upper elm section has both hand forged nail and peg construction.

This is a piece with so much character which makes it stand out from others on the market from the same period.

Both the historic repair to the seat panel along with the extensive wear to the shaped and turned sections, are just some of the lovely details the piece has to offer.

Originating from north Wales where it was passed down over several generations of the same family, whom resided in the county of Flintshire.

Boasting stunning colour and grain to the elm sections, in particular each armrest.

The boarded base allowing for storage of shoes, blankets, baskets etc.

This truly is the perfect piece for a kitchen interior or hallway.

Height – 117cm

Overall a fantastic piece of useable antique Welsh furniture, with the unusual ‘cubby space’ we have not seen in other settles from this period.

The settle survives its long life well, with beautiful patina earned from hundreds of years of use.

Structurally sound and ready to use.

Age related wear and tear as expected with a piece from the 18th century.

Minor non active historic worm, which has also been treated, which is only found in the lower pine section.

Historic crack to seat panel which has worm back and is now well rounded, showing this occurred a long time ago.
