An antique early 20th century English bootmakers metal trade sign
Code: 10294
Dimensions:
A wonderful early 20th century bootmakers trade sign, formed as an oversized boot, and constructed from sheet metal.
This wonderful trade sign would have hung outside an English bootmakers shop, suspended by a simple chain. A fantastic eye catching piece which would have helped to draw customers inside the shop and advertise the nature of the business.
Simply made from sheet metal but with some charming design elements, the original hanging loop and support bracket to the back are still present.
To the back and around the toe area are traces of historic red paint, which suggest this amazing giant boot was originally red when it was first suspended outside the shop front.
The metal has developed an honest time worn patina, with small dents, rust and oxidation marks.
Obviously intended to be hung, this would be the perfect way to display this amazing piece of antique shop advertising. This being said the boot will stand independently. A truly great sculptural piece however shown.
Dimensions:-
Height - 59.7cm

Some small holes present to the front.
The hanging loop is structurally sound and allows the boot to be suspended perfectly well.
The heel area has opened up over time.
