An early 19th century pine and elm panel back settle from the West Country.
With a vernacular rustic construction, one end of the settle is angled slightly inwards, presumably it was built this way to fit an awkward space within a tavern or cottage in Devon.
Another charming feature are the three heavy duty drawers to the base, each constructed in hefty timber, allowing for storage aswell as a seating option.
The well shaped armrests also add so much character.
This would be a great additon to a cottage kitchen or hallway, with its diminutive size making it useable in any sized property.
Fresh to market, and unlike the darker and larger settles this is a charming light coloured alternative which would complement traditinal pine farmhouse tables etc.
The sections of elm have worm nicely and developed a good warm colour and patina.
