A charming 18th century English oak gateleg table of nice proportions.

The plank top shows extensive wonderful broad medullary rays or 'flowering' throughout the oak timber.  It also boasts a well developed fantastic natural polished patina and shows its long life of use. To either side are the large leaves which when extended form a wide oval table.  The table top has a very attractive warm colouration.

The gate legs work on a simple pivot which easily support the hefty oak leaves.

Built with peg construction and hand forged iron pegs as illustrated.

With single cutlery drawer fitted with a brass drawer pull.

The option to raise one or both sides allows for flexibility within the intended setting. Quite often gateleg tables are placed up to a wall where one of the drop leaves remain down. Then when a larger seating option is required it can be set up fully.

An ideal dining option where flexibility during the week is required.

The table will seat six comfortably.

With nice honest wear to the bobbin turned supports.

Dimensions:

Table top height – 74.5cm

Knee height (height to underside of top) – 72cm

Width open - 152.2cm

Width with leaves down - 58.7cm

Depth - 123cm

With nice natural colouration to the timber, and historic wear.

Some historic reinforcement to the underside of the leaves as would be expected for a table from this period.

See images illustating small loss and historic repairs.

Structurally sound and ready to use.

Evidence to the base of historic non active woodworm. This has been treated additionally for peace of mind.
