A wonderful unique vintage 1960s large wall mounting painted circus clown face.
Formally used at the Butlins Holiday Camp in Bognor Regis in the early 1960's, after which they were used as part of an English circus.
We have sourced a photograph which shows the head in its original setting mounted to a building within the Butlins camp. This can be viewed within the listing images. The face was displayed as a set of four. Each face individually painted and finished in a different colour way.
We are selling each clown face individually.
Construction in fibreglass with painted face details and metal fixings for hanging. The face shows signs of over painting most likely touch ups to cover the effects of outside weathering. Each face would have been given a freshen up before going on display at the circus. All paint is historic.
At over 1.5m tall these wonderful vintage clown heads make for a fantastic fun display.
Given the size and individual style the clown faces would work well together or equally displayed in any combination.
This is a great opportunity to purchase a piece of nostalgic English history. With ties to the well known holiday camp, an English institution to some, these oversized colourful clown faces would have been seen by thousands of holiday makers.
The repurposing with a life as part of a circus display makes these even more appealing.
The combination of old vibrant paint and signs of age related wear give additional character.
