A Victorian antique pine scumble glaze shop clerks table top desk
Code: 10316
Dimensions:
An original antique Victorian pine shop clerk's table top desk in scumble glaze finish.
A well constructed example, which would have been used in a shop during the 19th century.
The lift up writing slope when opened reveals a storage area and four drawers to the interior. The top of the desk features a substantial gallery rail with turned finials to each corner.
The original customer notice printed on card affixed to the right hand side of the gallery is a charming feature.
Traces of ink can be seen from where quills, and pens would have been rested over its long life, this is another wonderful detail the desk boasts.
A time worn patina has developed across the scumble glaze, with areas showing signs of the desk being placed close to a fire possibly. The painted finish has also worn in areas of contact which has revealed the grain of the timber beneath.
The interior is found in a painted cream finish, with brass pulls to the drawers.
The desk is a versatile piece, ideal for use in a tattoo studio, barbers shop or any retail environment. The writing slope and storage make this ideal for an artist.
