A charming English late Georgian / early Victorian ornate wrought iron antique double sided pub sign. 

Octagonal in design with the centre panel formed from painted sheet metal, bordered by ornate wrought iron scrollwork. 

The convex side of the sign is inscribed 'The Sign Of The Spinning Wheel'. 

To the reverse within the concave interior of the panel is a beautifully hand pained image of a young woman sat at a traditional spinning wheel. 

Originally the sign would have been suspended by the two loops still present outside an English tavern.

The traces of the original painted finish on the wrought iron scollwork adds to the charm of the sign. 

A wonderful piece of antique advertising with amazing patina. Trade signs from this period are becoming increasingly hard to find.

With historic loss to the painted finish.

The upper section of the frame has some slight movement and evidence of a historic repair. Although this does not impede it being suspended.

As the sign is constructed from thin sheet metal it means it is particularly light, allowing for easy suspension with the original hanging hoops.

Some of the wrought iron scrollwork is slightly deformed.
