A rare pair of antique German painted double sided iron processionary pole attachments.

Dating to the late 1700s, these wonderful iron fan shape ecclesiastical pole attachments are beautifully hand painted.

One side on each depicts a martyr in robes, while the other side shows them naked, chained and burning in the fires of hell.

Each panel with wonderful naively painted imagery, which has bright hues, and has survived the ravages of time very well.

Originally the iron scollop shapes panels would have been affixed to wooden poles.

Each panel is now well mounted to a hand turned wooden display base.

Certainly one offs and unlike any others we have found during our research.

Dimensions:

Overall height - 25cm

Largest 13cm wide

Base measuring - 6.8cm tall x 8cm diameter

These are rare survivors indeed.

With minor losses to the paint, top edge of one slighly deformed.

Overall in very good condition considering their age.
