A good quality 18th century English oak gateleg table of large proportions.

This beautiful table is formed with a central top raised over the bobbin turned base. To either side are the large leaves which when extended form a wide oval table.

The gate legs work on a simple pivot which easily support the hefty oak leaves.

Built with peg construction and hand forged iron pegs as illustrated.

A single cutlery drawer is housed in the centre section.

The option to raise one or both sides allows for flexibility within the intended setting. Quite often gateleg tables are placed up to a wall where one of the drop leaves remain down. Then when a larger seating option is required it can be set up fully.

An ideal dining option where flexibility during the week is required.

The table will seat six comfortably.

Dimensions:

Table top height – 70.7cm

Knee height (height to underside of top) – 68.5cm

Width – 122cm

Length when fully extended – 159cm

With nice colouration and signs of pans being placed on the top over its extensive life.

All of which have created a wonderful patina.

Some historic reinforcement to the underside.

See images illustating small cracks and areas of loss.

Structurally sound and ready to use.

Drawer base sound. Historic repair to drawer front as illustrated.

Very minor movement to top but this is expected with a piece of this considerable age.
