A large 19th century antique toleware shop tea bin caddy

A wonderful and all original 19th century antique shop toleware tea bin.

Decorative and large scale, this charming painted tin bin is fitted with a hinged mahogany lid.  Fresh to market, after being sourced from a rural grocer's in Grantown-on-Spey, Scotland.

This charming tea bin would have been filled with loose tea, which the grocer would have decanted out the desired amount to the customer.

Found in rare untouched condition with the original black painted finish and gold decoration to it's front.

The lid has survived very well, with the hinged section fully operational.

The bin is exceptionally clean inside with no signs of rust.

These are becoming difficult to find,  and indeed are much more scarce in all original condition.

This would be ideal used as a statement log bin by the fireside.
