SOLD

An early 20th century full length presentation rowing oar for Jesus College (Cambridge University).

With wonderful ornate and detailed hand painted blade adorned with college insignia, and gilt calligraphy.

A fantastic example of a tradition English presentation rowing oar for the world renowned Cambridge University, whose history is steeped in river rowing tradition.

Dated 1938 and with the full team listed.

Many of these easy oars have over time unfortunately been cut down, so it's nice to see a full length example still intact.

Rowing crews which recorded four consecutive 'bumps' were said to have earned their oars and in turn were then awarded a presented oar like this one.
