An impressive Victorian 8ft antique English pine kitchen harvest table

A wonderful mid 19th century English pine country kitchen harvest table.

Well constructed in thick pine, with an expansive 8ft top, and raised on sturdy thick legs. 

This particularly long antique table was originally used in a farmhouse in Suffolk. Primarily serving as a workstation to prep food, clean crops, and making bread. It would also have been used to host large seasonal feasts. Rural tables of this type were also used to display the food and offerings for celebrations like Harvest festival, this is where the name ‘Harvest table’ comes from.

With a wide and shallow drawer to the apron at each end, ideal for storing utensils and linens. Both drawers are still fitted with an ornate cast iron cup handle.

The table shows signs of a long life of use with charming wear and tear throughout.

The apron height at each end is slightly lower, although it doesn’t impede too much. the longer sides easily allow for eight people to sit on standard height chairs without any issue.
