A Victorian Welsh painted pine wall hanging plate rack, with original wrought iron cup and game hooks.

Found in charming historic burgundy and cream painted finish.

Originally this antique rack would have been fixed to a rural cottage wall, and used to store plates, mugs and cups. The presence of the original large blacksmith forged iron game hooks is a lovely feature. These have been simply hammered into the timber, and would have allowed small game such as rabbits to be hung up prior to being prepared.

The charming traditional colour is particularly desirable, and would make for the perfect storage feature for any kitchen interior.

Still nice and solid and ready to use in the home.

The right hand side moulding is lacking and appears to have been removed to suit where it was originally fitted. There is also an iron hook to the right hand side.

Some of the hooks to the front of the lower shelves have been replaced historically during the rack’s life. This would suggest these were used more often and required replacing due to becoming damaged through heavy use.

With two hanging points affixed to the back.

 

With age related wear and tear.

Some historic splits to the front from the iron hooks being hammered in.

All shelves structurally sound.

One back board slightly warped and has bowed a little.
