A stunning 19th century pitch pine railway station waiting room bench
Code: 10074
Dimensions:
A wonderful 19th century railway waiting room bench of exceptional quality.
Beautifully constructed in hefty old pine for use at train station platform waiting rooms during the Victorian era and into the 20th century.
With so much character and natural patina from years of service. Most likely the bench would have been placed near the coal fire in the waiting room to give passengers a place to rest while they waited for their train to arrive.
The years of use have given the bench the amazing wear and patina you see now.
The timber has developed a warmth and the way the seat and armrests have worn is fantastic.
Certainly the quality of Shoolbred but as of yet it hasn’t been attributed for certain. The weight of the bench conveys the quality of the timber used.
