A fine quality Georgian antique red walnut gateleg dining table
Code: 10427
Dimensions:
A wonderful fine quality 18th century Georgian gateleg table, constructed throughout in beautiful red walnut, circa 1760.
This well constructed drop leaf table utilises dual swinging gate supports. When set up, the lift up leaves form a stunning oval table top.
The red walnut shows a lovely rich warm colour throughout. Red walnut was used widely for more refined furniture during the reign of both George I and George II. Favoured for both the attractive qualities of the timber and its density prior to the use of mahogany.
There is a single cutlery drawer to the shaped apron. The table is raised on well turned supports, with elegant cut away feet.
With visible peg joints and just the right amount of wear to the base.
The whole table boasts such wonderful deep rich colour and really stands out from other Georgian tables on the market.
An ideal dining table, allowing four to be seated comfortably.
Hinges are original to the table and are fitted with blacksmith forged iron nails.
